Big Aftermath of a Small Disclosure (Actors Touring Company)

Louise and Jon.
Happy together.

Except. Jon's got something to say.
A small disclosure.
With big consequences ...

Comedy and tragedy collide in a play about what happens when one person wants to go and the other wants them to stay.

‘Big Aftermath…’ explores how lives can turn on a word and the allure of the self-destruct button.

Dutch playwright Magne van den Berg is the author of several plays acclaimed in her native Holland. Big Aftermath of a Small Disclosure won the HG Van der Vies Prize. This is the first production of her work in the UK.

Translator Purni Morell is the former Artistic Director of the Unicorn Theatre and a former director of the National Theatre Studio. Her productions as translator and director have been seen all over the world.

Director Alice Malin is Associate Director of Actors Touring Company. She directed the recent touring revival of Winter Solstice by Roland Schimmelpfennig in co-production with the Orange Tree Theatre; and is developing a new play with Mark Lockyer (Living with the Lights On).

Performances at Summerhall, Edinburgh, this Summer (2018):

1 – 26 August (except 13 and 20)
14:50

★★★★ whatsonstage.com, Matt Trueman:

'Big Aftermath of a Small Disclosure resonates strongly with the state of the world. [...] Yet played in the microcosm of a friendship group, all that's handled with a real light touch as four fine actors key into the pleasing rhythms of Purni Morell's crisp, colloquial translation. Abhin Galeya suggests the slightest hint of a nasty streak beneath Jon's chilled-out exterior, while Wendy Kweh's Louise seizes up in the confusion and the statuesque Sam Callis remains both unaffected and uncomprehending. Mark Weinman adds a vital comic touch as Sjon, but this is a serious examination of the state we're in.'
